About Ben Bishop.me.uk
Started in 2005, benbishop.me.uk began life as a tech / business / gaming blog that has evolved into an overflow for Ben's thoughts. With no specific agenda he cover's pretty much whatever takes his fancy from how he solved the last Vista issue he had to fixing your PSP. If it interests him and can be of help to others (or maybe not!) he'll blog about it. -

It looked good in pictures and videos but after reading some comments from uber geeks its like apple is selling something ordinary by putting apple name coooolness at this high price and expensive service plan from cingular.
I agree to a point. The whole thing with Apple and especially this 1st generation iPhone is that they are not trying to reinvent the wheel but just do things right.
Its missing some pretty hefty features like 3G and a quality camera but its the usability that people are expecting and desiring.
Dont get me wrong, I am a PC user not a Mac Fanboy but there is so much wrong with todays mobile phones that maybe this will become the benchmark for years to come. If Apple raise the bar then the other manufacturers will have to take note.
Regarding price plans, I am based in the UK am yet to hear the confirmed pricing and service providers here but I would expect similar commercial deals. I just hope they deliver on the hardware.
Yah guys, this is the first gen iPhone and it’s going to be full of issues. I wonder if Apple does this on purpose so people are more willing to buy the next “better” version of their products. This is a pure consumer product, though. Those who need a phone to supplment work should look elsewhere.

It is a pure consumer product, I agree.
On your point about 1st generation products from Apple, they are getting much better from a reliability point of view though of course there are still horror stories. For such a high profile product like this that is aimed at a different market to those Apple tradtionally targets it would be commerical suicide for this not to be a reliable success from the off.
I love the iphone. I think its the best looking phone and will cause a trend in high tech phones!
