Microsoft yesterday announced the official Beta 2 release of Internet Explorer 7. The previous release was billed as a preview and according to IEBlog they have fixes and changes have been made based on feedback from the previous releases (including CSS). It looks like another couple of releases to come including Beta 3 before the official release which is likely to coincide with the official launch of Vista to business around November.
IE7 is a massive improvement on IE6 and really looks as though Microsoft is finally taking the threat of Firefox and the opinions of web developers worldwide seriously at last. Interestingly in addition to IE7’s continual improvement, Microsoft has gone live with a IE Add-ons site offering extras for their browsers though I’d expect most to be written especially for IE7 upon launch. ‘Extensions for IE’ anyone!?
