Well, it took me a while, too long in fact but I am finally in the land if mobile computing. Really needed one to be able to go away on business and still work but its turned into a bit of a lifestyle accessory (though the novelty might wear off!).
I went for reasonably priced laptop from Dell (yes, I know, no Mac Fan boy here yet). My logic was that while the sky is almost the limit regarding spec and price, I was unsure of how much i was going to actually use it. So, I found a great deal through the Dell Outlet store on Ebay, as recommended by Jeff a work colleague and I am very happy with the result.
The laptop is a quick dual core with a gig of Ram and a hard disk that suits my work related needs. Significantly through I managed to find one with the 1440 x 900 True Life resolution which was essential really for my web design which is the primary use. While its a fantastic screen, amazing quality, unfortunately it highlights the shortcomings of my desktop screen. Vista though, which I really like generally (its on my main desktop PC) was a head ache with the wireless networking and I have a network ‘engineering’ background.
Its well worth the effort and the money though!

How much did it cost, btw?
I bought a laptop last week too
. With Intel Pentium Dual Core, 1 GB of RAM, 120 GB SATA HDD. The screen resolution is 1280×800 which is cool in my opinion.
It cost me approximately $1000. I needed it because I want the WinOS due to the design works.
@Jan,
Thanks for the comment, yeah windows was the only way for me too. Simply don’t have the time to make the jump to Mac at the moment but I may in the future.
