Adaptive Path’s Measure Map has been snapped up by Google according to Google’s Blog. Measuremap, though still in private beta, came to prominence as a free blog stats service that has been attracting great reviews. Using a great combination of Ajax and Flash, Measuremap gives you your information put into digestible chunks that is in layman’s terms. A product clearly with much potential there has been reports of performance problems recently though on larger sites which is ironic given the recent issues that Analytics had when first launched. The integration into Analytics is sure to follow and it will be interesting to see the results and how competitors like Mint respond. Their homepage has already been updated to reflect this takeover; with a link to Google’s blog at the top and a ‘Measure Map is a production of Google’.
Songbird, the Firefox based media player, was released as a ‘User Preview’ (read alpha) amid much fanfare today. Billed as an alterternative for Windows Media Player and Itunes, Songbird comes from Rob Lord of Winamp fame and a team based of developers from the Mozilla Foundation, Muse and the Yahoo Music Engine.
Songbird is a complete desktop media player or "jukebox" with a uniquely open approach to Internet digital media network services. Examples of digital media network services included; eMusic’s á la carte MP3 store, Last.fm’s social networking service, Odeo’s podcast service or La Blogothèque, a personal MP3blog.
It looks like Google will be integrating Gtalk, their IM client, into Gmail in the next few days. I found this on the main gmail login page.
Chat with your friends from right inside Gmail. There’s no need to load a separate program or look up new addresses. It’s just one click to chat with the people you already email, as well as anyone on the Google Talk network. And now you can even save and search for chats in your Gmail account. "

This is part I of a II part guide to making the most of Delicious, the social bookmarking service. Part I is intended as a ‘Getting Started’ or a ‘Beginners Guide’ to Delicious, pitched at the user who has never heard of Delicious or has just signed up (its free). Part II will follow, though a continuation, it is aimed at the more experienced web user who’s interested in developing the way they use Delicious to make the most of this excellent service and the extras that have been made available.
“Del.icio.us?… Social Bookmarking?… pfft! What’s all the fuss about?”
Asa Dotzler has a pretty detailed write up on the merits of IE7 and the initial problems that have been found. Covering the new layout, features like tabbed browsing, searching and subscriptions, it’s a pretty detailed review and initial impressions. Its worth mentioning that this is from one of the original people behind Firefox though, so it is written from a Firefox zealot’s perspective!
I personally haven’t had a good enough chance to make the most of the preview yet so can’t make an informed comment though this is an interesting read.
