9 Rules Design Podcast

9 Rules have posted Episode 1 of what looks like becoming a Design podcast series. Matt Cahill, Matt Oliphant, Bryan Veloso, and Lea Alcantara take a look at ‘Personal Branding’ and it is well worth a listen. Frustratingly though, they break the podcast golden rule, no podcast rss feed or link to Itunes! Maybe in time for the next episode……

Site Improvements: Integrating Cocomment and Rojo

Two great services that I am a big fan of are Cocomment and Rojo. Cocomments is a way to keep track of comments that you leave on blogs and review them at a later date. By clicking on a shortcut in your browser before you post, your comment is tracked along with any subsequent conversations you may have. Now out of beta and freely available for sign up, the service works well and will become more common place the as more people find out about this valuable service. For convenience sakes I have added the JavaScript provided to my theme, in theory eliminating the need for the browser button when posting comments on my site. Somebody want to try this out?

Paul Dell is being Sued by Dell Computers

It would appear that multi-national giant Dell Computers is suing a small web designer by the name of Paul Dell for damages. Claiming he is engaging in "parasitism and unfair competition" Paul has been summoned to appear in Paris because of the name of his company and website www.dellwebsites.com. Paul, a Brit based in Menorca (a small island  off the coast of Spain), is currently hoping, with the help of his friends, to raise the funds needed and fight the case. Donations can be made or CSS templates bought to help fund this ‘David and Goliath’ case.

The Next Flock 0.6 (0.5.11)

flock_logo

I am pleased to say that the guys over at Flock have released their next version of their browser and it feels a much slicker, more polished product. Based on Firefox 1.5, Flock is still in very much in the beta stages but anyone who liked the first public beta should check it out (or anyone who didn’t for that matter – its definitely improved). Check out my review of the first one (0.5) and stay tuned for the update when I have had more time to offer a fair opinion.

Review: Campfire – Real Time Web Based Chat

37 signals officially launched Campire today, a real-time chat service that can add further productivity to your business or support for your products. After the last month of testing Campfire joins a stable of other great 37 signals web based services such as Basecamp and Backpack.

Offering a number of different pricing plans to suit your needs there is a free 30 day trial available that offers up to 4 chatters and 10 MB of space. It appears that they are sensibly limiting sign ups to 500 a day to monitor performance, although I was fortunate enough to try this while spaces were available.
