Microsoft today officially announced Project Origami; the Ultra Mobile PC’s that will be running a version of Tablet XP.
Built to go everywhere, do everything. With powerful processors, big, bright displays, easy input options, and support for the latest connectivity standards, Ultra-Mobile PCs are ready for your life on the go.
While not initially impressed with Microsoft’s latest attempt to push XP Tablet PC Edition on us all again, after seeing the Engadget photo’s I am warming to the idea. It looks very slick, like a system with quite some potential and if rumours are to be believed it seems as though Microsoft may have beaten Apple to the punch with this one.
The Shuttle team has finally released some mock-ups of what they envisage their admin panel will look like for Wordpress. Check out the pictures on Khaled’s Broken Kode and prepare to be suitably impressed with their plans for one of the only weak points of the awesome Wordpress blogging solution. With some hard hitters in the team including Chris J Davis, Michael Heilemann, Bryan Veloso and of course Khaled, its a possibility that this could make it into a future release of Wordpress. For the time being, if you haven’t checked out Steve Smith’s WP Tiger Admin, you should (read my quick intro here).
A little late (on my part) but Newsvine came out of beta on March 1st. The social news site is first class in my opinion and have to say that it has become one of my (almost) daily reads for news, tech and gaming. Check out my first impressions and fears here and if you haven’t already signed up then what are you waiting for?
It would appear that multi-national giant Dell Computers is suing a small web designer by the name of Paul Dell for damages. Claiming he is engaging in "parasitism and unfair competition" Paul has been summoned to appear in Paris because of the name of his company and website www.dellwebsites.com. Paul, a Brit based in Menorca (a small island off the coast of Spain), is currently hoping, with the help of his friends, to raise the funds needed and fight the case. Donations can be made or CSS templates bought to help fund this ‘David and Goliath’ case.
I am pleased to say that the guys over at Flock have released their next version of their browser and it feels a much slicker, more polished product. Based on Firefox 1.5, Flock is still in very much in the beta stages but anyone who liked the first public beta should check it out (or anyone who didn’t for that matter – its definitely improved). Check out my review of the first one (0.5) and stay tuned for the update when I have had more time to offer a fair opinion.
