How to: Clear Type Fonts in XP

I have recently taken the plunge and purchased a new 19 inch LG Flatron monitor. Using the excuse that I am doing much more Photoshop and Dreamweaver work I decided that it would be a good idea and am pretty happy with outcome. Moving from a 17” CRT, you can imagine the difference and it has been quite refreshing experience. With the higher resolution (1280 x 1024 compared with 1024 x 768), the monitor has undoubtedly made a significant improvement to my productivity.

I can take the marginal drop in quality with the advantages gained (in desk space alone) but really wanted to make the most of it of my LCD display.

With the release of Wordpress 2.0 they have added a few cosmetic improvements but mostly its under the shell of the system. While Wordpress 2.0 has undeniably added much greater functionality for the developer, keeping ahead of competitor platforms, the Dashboard has been left behind.

How To: Windows WMF Vulnerability?

Depending on what planet you’ve been living on for the last week or so you may not have heard the latest security threat to all versions of Windows from 98 onwards. I know we’ve heard this sort of thing before but this one seems pretty serious……

The WMF vulnerability appears to take advantage of a security ‘hole’ in Windows Meta Files (WMF) that can open the door to your system to various different viruses, Trojans or spy ware and malware. With no official Microsoft patch due until the 10th January, there is a simple precaution that could reduce the likelihood of an infected system;

How to: Wordpress Ajax Contact Page

Well after trying to get various Ajax contact pages working that I was happy with I actually settled on the easiest option, a Wordpress plugin! Why I didn’t check this out to begin with I don’t really know.

Anyway the Plugin is called Intouch it’s very easy to set up and completely configurable. With instant submission using AJAX, this is a quick and clean way to get a much needed contact page into your Wordpress blog.

  1. Simply extract the files to your ‘wp-admin\plugins’ folder and upload.
  2. Activate the plugin in the normal way from the ‘Plugins’ menu of your Wordpress Dashboard.
