Delicious Homepage Reorganised

Delicious, the social bookmarking site, have a new layout on their homepage, reorganising what’s hot on the web. Personally I preferred the original one and maybe added this as a hot list page, but hey, at least they are innovating or at least changing things and keeping Delicious fresh. Maybe I am just stuck in my ways…..

Google Video Ads?

Google Inc. will begin distributing online video ads for the first time later this week, continuing the Internet search engine leader’s effort to diversify beyond the static written messages that generate most of its profits.

A little late but heres my two cents…..

For me the great thing about Google’s adsense or any other text based advertising is that while it undoubtably generates revenue, it is un-obtrusive. Text based ads can be designed to integrate into a site, do the job they are intended for and not put people off browsing your site. For the same reason that Google’s image ads are far less frequently seen (well depending on your browsing habits) Googles’s introduction of video will not be used by the majority of sensible designers or site owners.

Firefox Extension: coComment

coComment have released an extension that automatically tracks your comments to your account, eliminating the need to click on the bookmarklet. Additionally it also notifies you when people have commented on the same posts as you with an icon in the status bar at the bottom of the browser.

This excellent service’s value just keeps increasing in my opinion. Typically with a real sense of community; Amit recently released a Wordpress plugin making it even easier to integrate this service into your blog. Take a look…..

MacBook Arrives

“What do you get when you put up to 2GHz of pure Intel Core Duo power, an iSight camera, Front Row, iLife ’06, and a 13-inch glossy widescreen display into a sleek case? More than you thought possible for less than you thought possible. Meet MacBook, starting at $1099.”

The biggest surprise appears to be the Intel Core Duo and the minimum 13″ screen. Mmmmm want one!

SXSW 2006 Podcasts

The two shows that really get my attention every year are E3 and South by Southwest (SXSW). SXSW brings together the most creative minds of the web for panels, keynotes and speeches – good excuse for a bit of a party too. For those who didn’t make it, including myself, they have released the podcasts for this year’s event on their website.
